WALESKA, Ga. – Faulkner jumped ahead early and never lost the lead Tuesday, notching a 12-7 midweek win over No. 23 Reinhardt.
The Eagles took a 2-0 lead in the first when
Orlando Lorduy drove in
Evan Gilliam with a sacrifice fly before
Juan Trinidad scored on a wild pitch. Faulkner then hung a four spot in the second. Gilliam singled to left to drive in
Francisco Soriano. Trinidad singled to drive in
Jose Vargas. Lorduy then drove Trinidad in with a single to left.
After Reinhardt got on the board with a run in the home half of the second, Trinidad hit into a fielder's choice that drove home Gilliam to push the lead to 7-1. Faulkner then added a trio of runs in the fifth. Vargas plated Eduarny Martinez with a sacrifice fly to left.
Jorge Lucero then singled home Soriano and
Wesley Estrella to move it to 10-1. Soriano accounted for Faulkner's last two runs with a solo homer in the seventh and a double in the ninth that plated Estrella.
Sariano paced the offense with four hits and three runs scored. Gilliam, Lucero, Trinidad, Lorduy and
Johnny Lopez had two hits apiece.
Alexis Saldana (2-2) did much of the heavy lifting for the Eagle pitching staff, working four scoreless innings while scattering four hits and a pair of walks.
Faulkner (18-6, 9-3 SSAC) returns to action Friday when it travels to Pulaski, Tenn. for a weekend series against SSAC foe Tennessee Southern.
