Two Eagles earn All-SSAC honors at XC Championships

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner's top women's and men's finishers at the SSAC Cross Country Championships earned all-conference honors for their performance at the event and throughout the season.

Sophomore harrier Chloe Helms took home First Team honors after placing sixth in the women's 6K. The Eufaula, Ala., native waits for official certification from the NAIA on if she will make the field at the National Championships held in Tallahassee, as the top four individuals not on the winning team advance. In the six events run this year, Helms ran the second- and third-best 5K times and the first-, second-, third- and fifth-best 6K times in program history. Last season, she earned the fastest 5K time in program history in the 2024 Nooga at Night Invite for her to own the top three times in that category, and what was then the fastest and is now the third-best 6K time for her to own the top five times there. She also owns the fifth- and sixth-best times earned in her freshman year.

Avery Rogers is the Lady Eagle honoree on the Champions of Character team. The dual-sport athlete from Prattville, Ala., earned the 10th- and 11th-best 5K times in program history while finishing with what is now the fourth-, seventh- and eighth-best times last season as a freshman. She and Helms also placed on the Athletic Solutions All-Academic Team, in addition to juniors Sarah Lorimor and Saryah Martin and Martha Mendez, the program's lone senior and the first four-year cross country letterwinner in Faulkner history for both the women and men.

Junior David Robles was named Second Team All-Conference while also earning SSAC Newcomer of the Year honors. The Springville, Ala., native made an immediate impact after transferring in from Wallace-Hanceville Community College, breaking program records in four of six meets. He earned the fastest 5K time in program history to open his time at Faulkner in the Foothills Invitational, the fastest 8K times in each of the next two races to break his own program-best record and the fastest SSAC Championship time in program history. In five 8K races as an Eagle, he now owns the five fastest 8K times in Faulkner men's cross country history.

Faulkner's Champions of Character honoree is Creed Spivey. The junior from Eclectic, Ala., finished with the seventh-best 5K time in program history at the Foothills Invitational. He also twice finished with the sixth-best 8K time in program history, the first time at Hoka Nights of Thunder and then breaking his own record two weeks later in the Firehawk Invitational. Before the start of the season, he already owned the fourth-best 8K time with his finish in the 2024 SSAC Championships. Spivey and another record-holding Faulkner harrier in sophomore Brodie Moore were the two Eagles named to the Athletic Solutions All-Academic Team.

The 2025 season draws to a close for both teams, with the possible exception of Helms.
