DANVILLE, Ala. - Eagles Cross Country had another productive outing at the Firehawk Invitational hosted by SSAC rival Tennessee Southern at the Oakville Indian Mounds on Saturday morning as the men ran an 8K and the girls a 6K. The men finished eighth out of 14 teams, and the women were 10th of 15 teams.
Top records were once again broken as David Robles broke the men's program overall 8K time with a 26:08.06, breaking his own program record of 26:28.90 set last weekend at Hoka Nights of Thunder. Cole Charles was next for the Eagles, coming in 43rd with a 27:57.69, the fourth-best time in program history behind Robles's times and Brodie Moore's 27:46 last season in the SSAC Championship. Moore was next in 57th place with a 28:38.20, the fifth-best 8K time in Eagle history. Creed Spivey was seven spots back of Moore with a 29:15.42, good for the sixth-best finish in Faulkner men's cross country. Carson Roberson was 71st overall with a 30:28.85 and Lane Berry-Kilpatrick rounded out the men's team with a 34:18.32 time. Robles, Charles, Spivey and Berry-Kilpatrick all earned personal record times.
The top 6K time in Lady Eagles history was attained by Chloe Helms, as the sophomore also came in eighth place to pace Faulkner with a 22:44.86 time, besting her own program-best time of 23:31, also set in the 2024 SSAC Championship. Avery Rogers was next for her team in 50th place overall with a 25:57.49, good for the fourth-best time in program history behind her own SSAC Championship mark of 25:56. Freshman McKenzie McAnnally was third on the team and 93rd overall with a 30:19.34. Claudia Velazquez was two spots back of her with a 30:28.76 and Sarah Lorimor was three back of that with a 31:08.97. Helms, McAnnally and Lorimor all registered PRs.
The Eagles are back in action in two weeks on October 4 for The XC Meeting on the campus of Berry College in Rome, Georgia.
