MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner racked up awards in its most successful collection of individual awards in program history, placing four players on the SSAC's first team and one on the second with three all-freshman nods and 12 all-academic as announced Wednesday night at the SSAC Soccer Awards Banquet.
Before this season, through its history, Faulkner Men's Soccer saw just five first team all-SSAC honors among four different players (Jarom Farnsworth in 2015, 2017; Antoine Marques 2023; Matheus Rodrigues 2023; Hiroki Tsuda 2024). Faulkner doubled the names to the annual lists of the best players in one of the NAIA's toughest conferences.
Angel Ugwumba earned the highest of his honors on the first team with a team-best 12 total goals entering the SSAC semifinals, the second most in program history, to go along with two assists and two game-winning goals.
Konsti Witte joined the first team with 10 goals and an assist, finding clutch goals throughout the season to join Ugwumba as the only pair of Eagles to have double-figure goals over the season.
Asaph Silveira contributed to nine goals this season with five goals and four assists to earn first team honors.
Leo Freire scored twice and assisted four more in just 10 matches to take the career assists record in the program with 16 total, improving upon his second team placement last season after moving to defense.
Andre Ferreira placed on the SSAC's second team, becoming the third goalkeeper in program history to make the second team with Pritchard Ndaira and Diego de Silva, after an .804 save percentage entering the semifinals through nine matches.
Ugwumba also placed on the All-Freshman team after breaking Faulkner's freshman goal scoring record by two going into the SSAC semifinals.
Gustavo Nau placed on the All-Freshman team after starring on the backline for the Eagles over 16 matches with a goal and an assist in his first season at Faulkner.
Matheus Magnusson also earned all-freshman honors from the defensive back line, playing all 17 matches for Faulkner across several different spots in the backline and defensive midfield while also adding a goal.
Ferreira picked up another honor, being named the Champion of Character representative for the team.
12 players picked up all-academic honors after carrying a 3.25 cumulative GPA, being on the varsity roster and having completed a full year of college. João Carvalho,
