Two Lady Eagle golfers finish Top 5

COVINGTON, La. – Faulkner women's golf opened its spring season off the podium after finishing fifth at the Wolfpack Invitational at Money Hill Golf & Country Club. The result came despite having two players finish in a tie for fourth place.

On the women's side, Faulkner shot 49-over each day to finish fifth out of six teams. Hannah Sanders and Sofia Gorgees Baeta each finished in a tie for fourth place overall. Sanders shot 4-over Monday and 8-over Tuesday while Baeta went 8-over Monday and 4-over Tuesday.

Sanders went even or better on 24 of 36 holes played across the two-day event. Her best hole was a birdie on the 13th hole, a 326-yard par four.

Similarly, Baeta shot even or better on 24 of 36 holes. Her Monday performance proved a mixed bag that limited her overall finish. She shot 1-under on a 357-yard par four sixth and also birdied a 272-yard par four 12th. But she also went double bogeyed a pair of holes while going bogey on five others to finish the day at 8-over. Tuesday proved a much more consistent round as she bogeyed four holes on the front nine and only one on the back. She birdied a 131-yard par-3 on the 16th to help her cause as she climbed into the Top 5.

The Lady Eagles get back to work this week in preparation for the Ram Invite at RTJ Magnolia Grove in Mobile. That event is set for Monday and Tuesday.
