GREENVILLE, Ala. - The Lady Eagles concluded the 2024-2025 season Wednesday with a seventh place finish in the SSAC Women's Golf Championship hosted at RTJ Cambrian Ridge, shooting a 169-over-par 1033 over the three day, three round event.
Faulkner's scores were paced by SSAC first-team golfer
Hannah Sanders who tied for 18th in the 44 golfer field with a 28-over-par 244. The senior's best round came Tuesday when she turned in an eight-over-par 80, ending her round with a birdie on the tricky uphill par four 18th hole. She started strong in the third round with an even par front nine.
Sofia Gorgees Baeta cut shots off each round after a tough first day to finish 29th with a 40-over-par 256. She minimized the trouble in the second and third rounds to shoot solid scores of 13 and 11-over par, knocking home pars on 10 holes.
Shelby Hughes carded a 45-over-par 261 to finish 33rd, lowering her round score each day as well. Hughes saw her most consistent golf come on the Loblobby course which served as the front nine with 15 pars or better on the 27 holes played on the nine hole course. Two of her three birdies in the event came on the 509 yard par five 17th hole.
A back nine rally in the second round anchored
Eden Shipp's tournament, besting six other golfers with a 56-over-par 272. Shipp shot a four-over-par 40 on the Sherling course which served as the back nine on Tuesday to turn in a 13-over-par 85 for her best round of the final event of the year.
The Lady Eagles wrap up the campaign with three top-half team finishes.
