Faulkner Football unveiled its 2025 schedule featuring five home, one neutral and five away contests for the program's 19th season. The Eagles will compete in five nonconference contests before entering the six game Mid-South Conference slate and eight straight weeks of games spanning September 13 to November 1. Faulkner will face three teams ranked in the final poll last season with the preseason poll for the 2025 season to be released in August.
The Dayne Brown era kicks off under the Thursday night lights in the Battle of I-85 on August 28 at 7 p.m. as the Eagles welcome Point to Billy D. Hilyer Stadium. Faulkner has never lost to the Skyhawks in the seven matchups, including the last three all being one-possession victories and winning a pair of contests in the "2020" season contested in the spring of 2021.
After a bye week, Faulkner then travels to Columbus, Georgia on September 13 for a couple of firsts. The Eagles will meet the Thomas Night Hawks, a third year program, for the first time. Thomas, a fellow SSAC school in every other sport, competes in the Sun Conference for football. The game will be the first neutral site game that Faulkner has played in.
Faulkner welcomes Southeastern to Montgomery on September 20 for a noon kickoff. The Eagles are 4-5 all-time against the Fire with a 3-3 mark at home, having won the last two games at the Bill. The Fire ended last season ranked 18th in the nation.
A road trip to Barbourville, Kentucky hits the schedule the following week with the Eagles taking on Union Commonwealth for the 12th time in program history. Faulkner has won every game in the series since the highest-scoring competitive game in college football history, a 95-89 win on Nov. 11, 2011 for an eight game win streak after losing the first three meetings with the former conference foe. It will be the first time the teams have met on the field since Feb. 27, 2021 with the October 16, 2021 contest forfeited by the Bulldogs due to COVID. Excluding the forfeit score, the losing team has not scored less than 20 points since 2009.
The Mid-South schedule begins with Bethel (Tenn.) coming to town for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff. History in the series with the Wildcats has not been friendly to the Eagles who have not scored in the last two contests and have not scored a touchdown in the last three meetings. The series is historically streaky with Bethel winning the first five and the last three and Faulkner taking four in a row between 2013 and 2016 and the Eagles.
The road does not get much easier for Faulkner as the Georgetown Tigers come to town on October 11 for an 11 a.m. kickoff. Georgetown fell in the quarterfinals of the NAIA Championship last season and ended the season ranked eighth. The Eagles are 2-7 all-time against the Tigers and will seek their first win since a 44-0 stomping in the 2015 season.Â
Faulkner then hits the road to Williamsburg, Kentucky to take on the University of the Cumberlands on October 18. Faulkner is 1-6 against the Patriots all-time and is seeking the first win on the road in the series.Â
The Eagles travel back to The Bluegrass State a week later to take on Lindsey Wilson on October 25 seeking their first win in Columbia, Kentucky in the program's seven trips and the first win anywhere against the Blue Raiders since 2014.Â
Faulkner's eighth game in eight weeks culminates in homecoming against Campbellsville. The Eagles are 6-5 all-time against the Tigers but have dropped the last two contests after winning the previous three. It will be just the second time since 2016 that Campbellsville has made the trip to Montgomery.Â
The Eagles will get a much needed bye week before traveling to Lebanon, Tennessee to face Cumberland. The Phoenix have faced the Eagles more than any other opponent with Faulkner holding a 7-6 advantage in the lifetime series. It will be the fifth of the last six times that the teams have met in November with the only outlier missing by three days.Â
