Hall of Fame
The seventh president of Faulkner University, Billy D. Hilyer spent 28 years atop the institution and proved an extraordinary endorser of collegiate athletics. During Hilyer’s tenure, Faulkner added eight athletic programs which helped dramatically increase enrollment and expand the university’s scope of influence. During his administration, Faulkner added softball and volleyball, which were the only intercollegiate women’s teams at the university at the time. In the years following, he
oversaw the addition of men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s soccer, football and women’s basketball. Moreover, Hilyer was at the school’s helm for every national championship won by Faulkner athletic programs to-date.
